bykoa

koa is the name of a tree — standing tall, resilient and deeply rooted. It is known for its strength, beauty and nobility, weathering storms by bending rather than breaking. 

koa also means 'brave' and 'joy' in different languages, symbolising the blend of cultures and the spirits we hope to carry with us through every season.

Our brand aspires to embody these in what we bring to the world. We create pieces designed to bring a sense of grounding to a gentler, everyday life. Thoughtfully crafted to be held, carried, and lived with, each piece is made to embody the same spirit of quiet strength, softness, and elegance.

A natural material chosen for its softness, durability and timelessness. Made from leather responsibly sourced and tanned*, our pieces are quality classics that age gracefully with you through time.

REUSABLE LINEN POUCH

Woven from natural flax fibres, linen is naturally biodegradable, durable and softens beautifully with use, lasting of years to come. 

Our linen pouch serves as a dust bag to protect your leather pieces, and can be repurposed to carry other daily essentials.

RESPONSIBLE PAPER GOODS

Wherever possible, our paper goods are locally sourced, FSC-certified or GRS-certified, because care extends beyond the product itself.

ECO-CONSCIOUS PACKAGING

We choose packaging materials as considered as the pieces they carry — responsibly sourced, bio-degradable, recyclable or made from recycled sources.

about the creator

of nature, places and stories

bykoa was borne out of a season of new beginnings and starting over, having relocated to the US to support my partner. Born and raised in Singapore, a small city-state in Asia, the move meant leaving behind everything I was comfortable with — my career, community and way of life. 

This change was challenging, but also rewarding. It gave me the opportunity to pause, re-evaluate the life I had, to challenge myself to try new things, and to choose differently. 

With a background in geography, education and sustainability, the pieces I aspire to create are inspired by nature, places, and memories we hold dear. They speak of the stories and lessons I have learned (or am still learning) walking through different seasons of life. It is important to me that the products I make are meaningful, multi-functional, and as gentle in impact as possible on our shared home. 

I hope our pieces bring comfort and grounding to the rhythm of daily life, serving as reminders of lessons from each season and that a gentler way of living can be found in the smallest things.
